Experts in Antitrust and Intellectual Property

Competition Economics provides economic research and consulting services to law firms, corporations, and government agencies. The focus of our research and consulting is in four practice areas: antitrust, damages, intellectual property, and regulation.

Our approach combines the knowledge, experience, and credentials of our experts with strong research support from our well-trained staff of consultants. Strong project leadership, backed by rigorous and objective research, enables us to be a leading provider of high-quality economic analysis.

Our directors and academic affiliates are distinguished experts in their respective fields, and their experience and credentials allow them to testify with authority on complex issues arising in business litigation and regulation – in the United States and around the world.

We frequently assist in high-stakes litigation. We have participated in such landmark cases as United States v. MicrosoftUnited States v. Rambus, and Quanta v. LG Electronics, as well as many prominent global cartel investigations. We have played a key role in several of the largest merger investigations in U.S. history, including Exxon and Mobil, BP Amoco and ARCO, and SBC and AT&T.

Our experts include several former high-ranking government economists, including a former Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Economic Analysis at the U.S. Department of Justice, Antitrust Division, a former Director of the Bureau of Economics at the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, and a former Chief Economist of the U.S. Federal Communications Commission.
